A simple step-by-step guide for schools getting started

Blippit Boards works best when staff are clear on what to do first, how to join, and what a “good one” looks like when using it day-to-day. The steps below will help you introduce the platform smoothly and build confident use from the start.

Step 1. Add your staff to Blippit Boards

After upgrading from a trial to a full account, your first job is to add your colleagues.

  1. Log in at boards.blippit.app
  2. Open User Manager (Admin only)
  3. For each member of staff, add:
    • their display name
    • their email address
  4. Click Invite

What happens next:

  • each invited colleague receives an activation email
  • the activation link is live for 60 minutes
  • if they miss the window, they’ll see “link expired”

If the link expires:

  • staff simply go to any Blippit login page
  • click Forgotten password
  • they’ll receive a fresh link and can join immediately

Tip: Invite senior/subject leaders first so they can model early use.

Step 2. Explain what Blippit Boards is for

Keep the introduction simple and purposeful:

  • Blippit Boards is for capturing worthwhile moments from the lived curriculum
  • It is not a parent-sharing platform
  • It is a professional tool for:
    • Subject Leaders
    • teachers
    • school improvement work
    • organisational development

Say this clearly up front. It frames expectations and avoids confusion.

Step 3. Model “what good looks like”

People use tools they recognise themselves in.

Create one or two example boards that show:

  • photos or videos of real classroom moments
  • short written context explaining:
    • what the moment shows
    • why it matters
  • the tags you expect teachers to use

Share these model boards when launching to staff and refer back to them.

Step 4. Make tagging expectations crystal clear

The system relies on consistent tagging so reports and charts work properly.

Tell teachers:

  • tagging makes moments findable and usable
  • reports and dashboards depend on accurate tags
  • no tag = not included in subject reports

Where possible:

  • provide a minimum required tag set
  • explain any school conventions (e.g., phase, subject, year group)
  • use the pre-made tag sets to avoid typos and save time

Remind teachers: tagging is part of the professional act of evidence capture.

Step 5. Reassure teachers about visibility

Teachers often want to know who can see what.

Let them know:

  • teachers can see other teachers’ captured moments
  • this is intentional — it supports:
    • professional dialogue
    • subject leadership
    • curriculum development

Normalise this as shared professional practice, not performance surveillance.

Step 6 – Point staff to self-help resources

Teachers and admins don’t need to wait for you if they’re unsure.

Remind them:

  • Blippit Uni contains illustrated help articles and videos
  • there are quick-start guides for:
    • Blippit Boards Admins
    • Blippit Boards Users
  • teachers can look up features any time

Build independence early — it reduces support demands on leaders.

Step 7. Reinforce what Blippit replaces

Make it explicit what staff no longer need to do:

  • no emailing photos
  • no shared drive confusion
  • no Word documents of pasted images
  • no printing, photocopying or chasing folders

Say clearly:

“From now on, please Blippit your evidence instead.”

This helps to close the door on old habits.

Step 8. Keep momentum going

In the first term:

  • watch your dashboard build in real time
  • identify gaps early
  • support staff before deadlines
  • celebrate good examples

You’re aiming for Blippit to become:

  • routine
  • low-effort
  • part of professional conversation

Short launch script you can read to staff

Here’s a ready-to-use paragraph if helpful whether you're leading the launch or joining the journey!

“We’re introducing Blippit Boards to capture meaningful moments from our lived curriculum. It’s a professional tool for us, not a parent-sharing platform. Please capture photos or videos of key learning moments and add short context so they make sense to others. Tag clearly — reports and dashboards depend on accurate tags. You’ll receive activation emails today. If your link expires, just use ‘Forgotten password’ to get a fresh one. If you’re unsure about any feature, Blippit Uni has quick guides and videos to help.”
